Do your research to HIRE THE RIGHT ROOFER!

A startling fact regarding the roofing industry 😳.

So why should that matter to a homeowner?

Any issues regarding the workmanship or installation technique that could lead to issues generally won’t show up immediately and if they do, the consumer is out of luck if their contractor is in the wind or operating under a different name.

So, why do roofing companies fail?

Most typically, it has to do with an inability to develop sustainable or prudent business practices.

There are a variety of reasons why a roofing company may fail but they often lead back to a lack of business understanding and general irresponsibility.

Frequent causes involve pricing to low and not understanding the market, thereby creating a perpetual ‘Rob Peter to pay Paul’ scenario.

Another common cause is not carrying required insurance , most notably worker’s compensation coverage, improper bookkeeping or payroll practices which upon scrutiny will result in exorbitant penalties.

How do you protect yourself?

Due diligence and research goes a long way.  Hop on the computer, look up the business, it’s history, DOS filing and their reviews, then balance those results into the buying equation so you hire the right company.

Get your warranty in writing and whenever possible, work with a contractor like Home Pro Exteriors that provides a manufacturer-backed warranty which covers both the material AND the workmanship.  Manufacturer-backed protection doubles your protection and provides the highest level of ‘peace of mind’.

Remember, when price is the sole determinant in a buying decision, all you have done is increase the likelihood of partnering with the wrong business.
